ACCOMMODATION AND TRAVEL

Will accommodation be provided?
No, accommodation will not be provided. All participants need to arrange travel and accommodation themselves; it is not included in the registration fee. Blocks of rooms at a discounted rate have been reserved at a number of hotels. For more information see our Travel page.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

Is financial support available?
A limited amount of financial support is available for conference participants and speakers. When submitting your abstract, please indicate if you would like to be considered for financial support. Only participants, whose abstracts have been accepted, are eligible for financial support.

Is a reduced registration fee available?
There are reduced registration fees for students and participants from developing countries. For additional information, visit the Registration page.

Can I attend the conference for just one day?
The 2014 Norwich Conference does not have a special day-rate. You are welcome to attend for just one day; however the full registration fee will still apply.

How do I register for the 2014 Norwich Conference?
Registration is required for all participants, and the number of participants is limited. To register for the 2014 Norwich Conference visit the conference registration website (link to registration website). Can I get a Letter of Invitation to obtain a visa?
The conference organizers are glad to issue a Letter of Invitation to registered participants who have already paid their registration fee. Please address your request to NC14@earthsystemgovernance.org. Your request should contain your full name, the address where the letter should be sent, and your registration confirmation code (located at the bottom of your registration confirmation). Please note that requests for Letters of Invitation will only be processed if both registration and payment are complete. The conference organization will not respond to requests that do not meet these requirements. Unfortunately, we cannot offer further assistance in the visa application procedure and we reserve the right to deny issuing a Letter of Invitation without providing reason.

PAPERS AND PRESENTATIONS

Are there guidelines for the presentation?
Depending on the final number of presentations in the panel, each presenter will have 15-20 minutes for presentation and 5-10 minutes for questions and answers. It is up to the presenter whether or not to prepare a Power Point presentation. If you do, please have your presentation uploaded at the laptop in the room of your session before the session starts. Student volunteers will provide assistance if needed. In general, each presentation will be followed by a few minutes Q&A before the next presentation starts. Session chairs can however choose for other formats, for example combining Q&A on all presentations and a general discussion at the end of the session.

Are there guidelines for full papers?
Given that this is an interdisciplinary and international conference, participants are encouraged to draw on their own disciplinary or local norms and standards for paper length and format. However, recommended maximum length is 8 000 words. The scientific quality of your paper is most important. Please note that the deadline for submission of full papers is May 15, 2014.

How do I submit my full paper for the conference?
Authors of accepted conference abstracts should email their full paper to NC14@earthsystemgovernance.org by 15 May, 2014. In a later stage we will publish the papers online for the public, if you not explicitly ask us not to.

How do I know what day and time I will present?
A detailed programme will be published on this website as soon possible. The exact time-slot for your presentation can change up to the start of the conference as we aim at coherent panels and will have to adjust to withdrawals and other changes.

What if I am unable to attend the conference to present my paper?
If you are unable to attend the conference, please notify us (email: NC14@earthsystemgovernance.org) as soon as possible so we are able to arrange the programme accordingly.

Has my paper abstract been accepted?
On 1 Feb 2014 all authors of paper abstracts will be informed about the outcome of the review process by email. If you submitted an abstract but did not receive the notification then contact the conference organizers at NC14@earthsystemgovernance.org. Please first check to see if your spam filter maybe blocked the email.

Is there a conference schedule available?
With regard to timing, the conference will commence on Monday afternoon the 30th of June at 16:00. The conference will conclude at 17:00 on the afternoon of Thursday 3 July. A tentative conference programme is coming soon and will be continuously updated.
